Volunteer & Research Coordinator - The Napa County Historical Society is looking for a Volunteer & Research Coordinator, responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Research Library, and for volunteer management, including but not limited to recruitment, training, scheduling, supervising and assisting volunteers. The coordinator is the research administrator and is responsible for library and archives management. Fifteen hours per week will be dedicated to data entry of collections into PastPerfect Museum Software. The coordinator must also greet and assist visitors. Associate Director of Education - Montalvo Arts Center is seeking an Associate Director of Education to join our outstanding Program Staff. Reporting to the Director of Programs, this position is responsible for program development and operational oversight of Montalvo’s arts education and outreach programs. The Associate Director of Education will collaborate with the Director of Programs, all program staff, as well as resident artists to develop and integrate educational components into the artistic programming of the organization.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Developing and implementing new and existing education programs that achieve the following:
Providing accessible and relevant arts experiences for K-12 students and their teachers, throughout Silicon Valley.
Offering multidisciplinary arts education programs to complement the programs and projects of Montalvo Arts Center, including multi-tiered programs that provide exposure to the arts, interaction with artists, and opportunities for students to become involved in the creative process.
Integrating school curriculums that provide many different kinds of experiences and are accessible to the diverse educational institutions throughout the Silicon Valley.
Working with program staff to broaden and enhance program offerings by developing approaches for learning in each artistic programming endeavor.
Producing or supervising the production of all program curriculum and/or study guides.
Strengthening the organization’s outreach efforts by building upon and creating new relationships with local K-12 schools, universities and secondary educational institutions.
Identifying core partners and strategically implementing educational programs that complement and contribute to artistic programs.
Collaborating with the Director of Programs and other program staff to develop, manage and coordinate cross-discipline adult and public education programs.
Representing the arts education and outreach programs through written documentation and/or public presentation, whenever appropriate, to a vast audience including the general public, educational program constituencies, the media, Montalvo staff and volunteers, trustees and funders.
Developing and managing annual education program budgets.
Hiring, training, supervising and evaluating arts education and outreach staff and volunteers.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
Educational degree in art or art history. An emphasis in contemporary art or art education and/or Masters Degree preferred.
Five years experience in a museum or other nonprofit arts institution at a managerial or supervisory level, with responsibility for designing and carrying out programs.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
An interest in developing new models for integrating learning into artistic programming.
Experience working with artists.
Experience working with multidisciplinary arts.
Knowledge of and experience in curriculum development.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Organized and efficient work habits.
Experience working with and managing budgets
Status: Fulltime. This position requires some evening and weekend availability.

Location: This position is located in the Member, Donor and Public Relations Department of the Washington State Historical Society in Tacoma, Washington. This is a full-time permanent position working Monday-Friday, totaling 40 hours a week. Scheduling flexibility is required on occasion for evening and weekend events.
Duties: This position works closely with the Development and Marketing Manager to research, develop and execute sponsorship proposals, public relations strategies, marketing and promotional efforts, member events and other special events as assigned at the Washington State History Museum.
The Public Relations Coordinator interacts with all departments in the agency to coordinate efforts and accomplish marketing and funding goals. They also work directly with the general public, media and other institutions to develop relationships that help meet the goals of the organization.
Desirable Qualifications: A Bachelor degree involving major study in journalism, public relations, graphic design, communications, or a closely allied field; AND, demonstrated experience in communications, design and/or development activities.
Conditions of Employment:Successful candidates must have a valid Washington State driver's license. Successful candidates must pass a Criminal Justice Records Check.

Collection Manager - Heritage Station, The Umatilla County Historical Museum, Pendleton, Oregon
Collection Manager - The Anthropology Department of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County seeks a Collection Manager to work with our Anthropology Collections.
Responsibilities include: cataloging, storage and care of collections; processing accessions and loans; assisting with public inquiries, visiting researchers, participation in relevant collections based public programming, and active use of computerized databases and digital technology in all aspects of collections management. Applicant will work with a team of collection managers and curators as needed on projects, grants, and NAGPRA compliance.
Requirements include Graduation from an accredited college with a MA in Anthropology/Archeology or Museum Studies with an emphasis related to collections management. Minimum of one year's experience managing Ethnological or Archeological Collections.
Excellent computer skills are necessary and an interest in learning specialized skills such as KE Emu database software required. Familiarity with NAGPRA desirable.

Director - Boyce Thompson Southwestern Arboretum. The University of Arizona College of Agriculture and Life Sciences invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of the Boyce Thompson Southwest Arboretum located in Superior, Arizona. The Arboretum, established in 1925, is managed under an agreement between the University of Arizona, Arizona State Parks and a private nonprofit corporation, which owns the physical facility. The tripartite management seeks to maintain an appropriate balance between the public programs and academic endeavors. The Arboretum is primarily a service-oriented institution seeking to ascertain the types of plants that will thrive within the Sonoran Desert; displaying these and introducing them for use within the state and the Southwest; making seeds available to botanical gardens, arboreta, parks departments and government agencies; and offering a wide range of educational services dealing with plant science and biotic communities. Curatorial Assistant - The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is engaged in a major seismic upgrade of its original 1913 building and adjacent spaces. The project will culminate in the installation of four new permanent exhibits. As part of this larger project, the Ancient Latin America Hall, displaying over 600 archaeological objects from North, Central and South America, will be taken down and the objects placed in a new visible storage exhibit. We seek a Curatorial Assistant to join an outstanding team working on our Ancient Latin American archaeological collections as part of this larger project.
Responsibilities include:
· Assist Anthropology Collection Manager, Collections Technician, Museum Registrar and Conservator in the de-installation of the Ancient Latin American Hall. This will include but is not limited to the removal, condition reporting, photographing, packing and transporting the artifacts to their new location.
· Assisting with the implementation of an onsite open storage exhibit of the same de-installed objects.
· Limited preventative conservation of objects under the supervision of Collections Manager and Conservator.
· Use computerized databases and digital technology related to this project to assist in the collections management of these collections.
· Artifact research and documentation.
Qualifications Include:
· Graduation from an accredited college with a BS/BA (MA desirable) in Anthropology or Art History with a specialization in the Art and Archeology of Ancient Latin America (Mesoamerica, Central America and South America).
· At least 1 year of experience involving collections management, identification or classification, preparation and conservation of artifacts for study, research or exhibition.
· Must be able to work as a member of a team and independently with little direct supervision.
· Excellent oral and written English skills required, Spanish reading and comprehension ideal.
